STM balance
Download the app to see live buses and find how to get to your destination
The STM card belongs to the Intendencia de Montevideo, which sets its fares, its top-ups and its rules. This page sums up how the balance shows; the current terms are the ones the Intendencia publishes.
The card's two balances
An STM card can hold two balances:
- Online balance: the one in the Intendencia de Montevideo's online STM account, for cards linked to an account.
- Card balance: the one stored on the card itself.
How each balance is topped up and in which order it is used is set by the Intendencia de Montevideo.
See the balance in AhiVoy
In the AhiVoy app, the STM tab shows your cards' balance, lets you top them up through the Intendencia's services and works out what each trip costs for your card type.
